"Geamos" is a family-run Georgian restaurant located between St John's Wood and Kilburn. Rather than offering a modern take on Georgian cuisine, it focuses on traditional recipes and genuine Georgian hospitality. And you can actually feel it. Walking in feels more like visiting someone's home than dressing up for London's latest trendy restaurant.Anyway, onto the food.π₯ We came for the khinkali, and they absolutely delivered. We went for the classic pork and beef filling with fresh herbs, and they were excellent.π Dolma was exactly what you'd hope for.π§ Adjarskiy khachapuri or "bread boat with cheese" hardly needs an introduction. Bread, cheese and an egg... what's not to love? Definitely one to share. The only dish I wasn't convinced by was the pork "shashlik" (grilled meat). If you grew up in Eastern Europe, you'll probably expect a juicy, tender barbecue-style shashlik. This version was marinated very differently, which simply wasn't to my taste. That's subjective. Objectively, though, the meat was also a little on the tough side.π° The medovik tasted lovely, but didn't look quite as good. It had dried out slightly around the edges and had lost its shape a little. The homely atmosphere is part of Geamos' charm, but presentation still matters in a restaurant.Overall, I'd happily come back whenever I'm craving traditional Georgian food. I actually don't know many Georgian restaurants in London yet, so if you have a favourite, let me know in the comments.Apart from the shashlik, I genuinely enjoyed everything we ordered.
