Babbo

Babbo - which means - “Daddy”. 🍽️A good representative of the mid-range segment, though not without its nuances.Located on the main street of St John’s Wood, Babbo offers Italian cuisine, and on Mondays and Tuesdays you can sample wines from their private cellar at attractive prices.According to the official website, Babbo is described as “a home away from home” - which doesn’t quite match the restaurant’s actual interior and atmosphere. To me, it feels more like an elegant Italian lounge - simply put, not the kind of place you’d show up to in a tracksuit (at least in the evening). But I’ll let you decide - photos attached.As for the food:• Excellent lasagna, straight from the oven — a large portion, easily sharable between two.• Solid spaghetti alle vongole - perfectly al dente pasta with clams.The pizza, however, could use some work. I wouldn’t order it again in its current form. Firstly, the size is tiny, dough is thin - almost child-sized - and the pricing seems unclear (£ 15-20). Secondly, pizza was lacking in flavour, with rubbery, tasteless cheese.Service is excellent: polite, attentive, and courteous staff.Overall, a good neighbourhood restaurant — worth returning for lunch, just maybe skip the pizza.
