All-day brasserie in elegant grand cafe surrounds, serving modern and classic European menu.
Write reviewIn the heart of London’s theatre area. On maps it’s listed as an Austrian restaurant, which is what caught my attention: I love Austrian food, so I rushed to book a table. In reality, The Delaunay turned out to be more of a European café inspired by the grand cafés of Europe, with Austrian, French, British and other dishes side by side on the menu. It also offers different dining options: the main dining room, the bar, and The Delaunay Counter. The restaurant hosts evenings with guest speakers too, which I find a rather interesting idea. The latest news and announcements are on their website.Since we came for the Austrian food..:• Veal Bratwurst with Austrian potato salad, sauerkraut, caramelised onion - quite good;• Wiener Schnitzel, again with Austrian potato salad. It reminded me of the giant portions we always got in restaurants in Austria. The meat was very thin and coated in breadcrumbs, with a fried egg on top - proper cooking & good flavour;• Kaiserschmarrn with plum compote: pieces of fluffy pancake with raisins and baked plums. The flavour was very well balanced and not overly sweet, which is a common flaw in similar restaurants. The lunch starts with warm baguette, which was actually quite good (believe me I’m almost a certified baker 😏)Recommended!
