Every Saturday we are in St John’s Wood — which means every Saturday is a new chance to explore this area for hidden culinary gems.Last Saturday, such a gem turned out to be the Turkish restaurant Fora.Naturally, we started with a traditional “mixed meze starter”:🥗On the plate:-“Tabbouleh” - a salad of finely chopped parsley, bulgur, tomato and onion with olive oil;-“Cacik” - yogurt with cucumber and garlic-“Artichoke & Celeriac”,-“Hummus”,-“Aubergine Ratatouille”,-“Falafel”,-“Spinach & Feta Börek” - a little pie.Everything tasted fresh and vibrant, as if it had just been prepared especially for our table. The meze were delightful!🥩Then came the “special mixed grill”:lamb kebab, marinated chicken skewer, lamb skewer, and a lamb cutlet on the bone.Unbelievably juicy, full of flavor, tender meat with a perfectly grilled crust — the chef at Fora definitely knows how to cook meat right!🍝We also tried the bolognese pasta, which was average — but I wouldn’t blame the restaurant for that. It seems the management aims to cater to a wide range of tastes, which makes sense for such a popular area. The pasta was slightly overcooked, and with this dish, al dente really matters.Do I consider it a drawback? Not really. But I would recommend focusing on traditional Turkish dishes — that’s where the restaurant truly shines.I definitely recommend Fora, and I’ll gladly return again.
