My love for Austrian cuisine is endless so I was happy to visit Fischer’s for the second time. Many winter holidays spent in Austria, from Vienna to snowy Alps, have given me a solid understanding of “how it should be.”To dive into the Tyrolean atmosphere and indulge in some nostalgia for the old times, I ordered:• “Tafelspitz” with creamed horseradish and apple compote. Boiled (usually 2-3 hours) tender meat, soft apple purée, and horseradish sauce. Delicious.• “Chicken schnitzel”. The portion is large, probably better for two. Tender chicken with a crispy crust, served with berry sauce. Classic!• “Chargrilled ribeye steak” with the right level of doneness and fries as a side.I was only disappointed by the “Franz Joseph Kaiserschmarrn” - chopped pancake with cherry compote. I’ve tried so many Kaiserschmarrns over the years! Usually it is tender, airy, thick pancakes, traditionally served with apple jam and with powdered sugar on the top. These were too wet, tired, and overly sweet — definitely not the classic version. I would reconsider this recipe.Despite the dessert, I still recommend visiting this restaurant and enjoying the appetizers and main courses.
