A Japanese home-style dining restaurant located in the heart of Mayfair. The restaurant is divided into two sections: a bright area with a sushi counter and a darker, more relaxed space—where we were seated. We opted for the tasting menu with several courses, which I believe is the best way to experience a restaurant. To start, they serve fresh, fluffy bread, vegetables, and an incredible tofu-based sauce with a nutty flavor.Next came sashimi—thin slices of raw fish beautifully garnished with caviar and flowers. The sushi set followed, featuring: “fatty” tuna with a subtle smoky aroma, salmon, spanish tuna, sea bream. Then, a rice dish with mushrooms (I’d describe it as a mushroom pilaf or “plov”). While it was good, I don’t think it was the best choice for a large tasting menu. You usually feel quite full by this point, and adding rice in between courses might not be the best idea. The steak—despite being ordered medium—was clearly medium rare. But I had no complaints. It was tender, with a perfectly pink center and a delicious crust, served with Chinese cabbage in a flavorful sauce. The only thing that didn’t quite meet our expectations was the dessert. It was overly sweet, heavy, and too creamy. After such an extensive tasting menu, you crave something light, and this dessert was difficult to finish. If the restaurant aims for higher Michelin recognition, I believe they should rethink their dessert offerings. The atmosphere and service were outstanding.A recommend this place.
